This article therefore emphasized majorly one after the other, three of these emotional disasters: there impacts on our lives randomly, and learn the best way to overcome them.

Depression, Anxiety and Guilt are dysfunctional ways to cope with things in Life.

I. Depression

It is a common disorder, affecting over 350 million people worldwide. It is a disabling condition that often affects an individual’s work, school or family, life; sleeping and eating habits; and general health. It’s a usual mental disorder that makes people to feel depressed mood, loss of interest or pleasure, feelings remorse, lack of sleep or appetite, little or no energy and concentration, if not properly checked it can cause unnecessary suffering and is a risk factor for suicide.

However, depression is different from being sad. Sadness is something which everyone feels due to a particular cause. An individual experiencing depression will go through deep emotions of anxiety, hopelessness, negativity and helplessness, and the feelings stick to them instead of going away.

Hints to Overcoming Depression

What can you do when depression hits? Start by recognizing that it’s not your fault. And follow the shortlisted procedures one step after the other:

Firstly, go back to the basics. Ask yourself:

Am I eating regularly, nutritious meals? Depression impacts appetite.

Am I getting the right amount of sleep? Am I exercising?

Have I had a recent medical exam? Get checked out by your doctor.

Secondly, plan some for some pleasurable atmosphere. Find one enjoyable thing to plan for each week and make sure it gets done! When depressed, it’s hard to do the things you enjoy. Do it now! Don’t let the depression isolate you – isolation leads to focusing on the depression.

Finally, if your depression was brought on by a recent loss, allow yourself time to grieve. Sometimes it is good to be sad and we need to allow ourselves time to heal.

II. Anxiety

It may be a natural reaction to stress, and can also serve as a prompt deal with difficult issue. However, when anxiety is in excess, it may fall under the classification of an anxiety disorder. Study reveals that, anxiety is the most common mental disorder in life; almost one out of five people randomly suffer from an anxiety disorder.

Worry is often accompanied by physical symptoms, especially headaches, muscle tension and aches, problem swallowing, trembling, irritability, and sweating.

The emotional symptoms include phobia, racing thoughts, and a feeling of imminent doom. People battling with anxiety often withdraw and avoid people or certain places.

Short and shallow breaths indicate stress and anxiety in the body while long and wide breaths show you had a great day.

‘Self -Love’ and ‘Self -Care’ are the most natural resources available with us and within us.

III. Guilt

Most people want to do the right thing and when they make a mistake they aren’t actually happy about it. How we deal with these mistakes really influence our lives.

Guilt is often an emotion that comes as a result of you believing that you were responsible for a certain mistake. Mostly, guilt and the rate at which we experience it, is based on who has been affected by the mistake and how severely they have been affected.

Guilt is an emotional or a cognitive experience that occurs when an individual realizes vividly or not, that he or she has violated his or her own standard or moral conduct and face the significant responsibility for the violation. It is indeed related to the concept “remorse”. It results to a feeling that does not go away so easily, controlled by ' conscience'.

Guilt isn’t necessarily a bad thing, when allowed to exist in a healthy state. Guilt can cause us to do irrational things and creates stress in our lives. It can result to negative effects on our health and emotional status, and how we see ourselves. When you have guilt, you put up the feelings of not being okay. You are rid of your confidence, self-respect and feel undeserving.

Hints to Overcoming Guilt

It is important that we understand the type and root of guilt that is being experienced, so as to deal effectively with the guilt. Knowing where guilt comes from allows people to carefully deal with it, by making necessary amendment to something or letting it go through forgiveness. Guilt may manifest itself in several ways:

Natural Guilt: this refers to remorse feeling over something that one did or failed to do.

Free-floating or Toxic Guilt: The main feeling of not being a good person.

Existential Guilt: this refers to the uncomfortable feeling derived from one’s indebted responsibilities to life in general.

Therefore, having understood the type and root of guilt experienced, one can easily move to getting rid of it.

The methods that can be used to avoid or overcome guilt are quite simple and straight forward but you wouldn’t know if not told. So, instead of criticizing yourself as a response to guilt which is quite destructive and detrimental to one’s health, you can easily follow the few steps below and see yourself overcoming guilt:

Share your guilt: make sure you do not abhor any feeling of guilt. Share them with others. Keeping guilt to yourself could be disastrous as it could integrate to negative emotions towards yourself and the person you wronged.

Realize your good side: guilt sometimes tends to cover and eliminate the goodness in you and making one look worthless. You have to let it go, feel liberated and feel the good side of you.

Ask for forgiveness of yourself: guilt often makes one feel not forgiven. Forgiving and showing compassion towards oneself could really help in overcoming guilt within the shortest time.

It’s important to love yourself and have positive self-regards, it will increase your Self Esteem, and you will never be the victim of these Life emotional disasters.
