While a few people are lucky to be born with leadership qualities, others manage to instil these qualities in them through the course of time; and though these qualities can be possessed by anyone, it takes a lot to properly hone leadership skills and put them to good use.
The world thinks being a leader is a piece of cake, but the truth is completely opposite. From carrying an entire team on your shoulders, to reaching a common goal while hand-holding multiple personalities, leadership sees a variety of challenges throughout. Leaders generally end up battling an array of challenges to successfully get to one common goal. A few challenges that could really take a good leader for a topsy-turvy ride, are:

1) Instability: When a leader is not stable and continues to perform inconsistently, he/she ends up not only bringing himself/herself down, but pulls down the entire team working with them. When a leader guides a team towards a goal, mental or emotional imbalance can create major chaos amongst the team and result in a total loss of focus.
2) Harshness: A leader who possesses an attitude of indifference towards the mental and emotional needs of his/her team mates, is a leader who brings down the morale of the entire team. It is important to understand and accommodate the needs of your team to maintain harmony.
3) Disconnect: Leaders who don’t communicate with their teams, often end up with a team that loses focus and misses targets. This happens because the leader failed to understand any highs or lows that could be affecting the productivity and morale of the team.
4) Disunion: When a leader fails to unite the members of a team, he/she faces the results of a phenomenon called disunion; where members of a team end up working towards a goal without any harmony, and manage to miss because of lack of sync.
5) Denial: Leaders who live in denial, and refuse to take charge or responsibility of any given task, often tend to find themselves in situations where their teams are unable to deliver or perform.
These factors could be consciously or unconsciously embedded in the personality of leaders, and in order to combat these traits, there are five C’s that you must always remember!
