Coaching by Dr. Paras

What is Coaching? What do you do Dr.Paras? A very common question that comes my way when I introduce myself as a Coach.

My clients have often said they experience significant changes that floor their path to a life that’s more result oriented, challenge them to think beyond their comfort zone!

How Does it Work?

Coaching needs a level of commitment from both parties. Coaching happens over a period of time. Which can last anything between 3 months to 12 months.

We transform people through coaching, move forward to think in the “Now & How” - which will give them the Life & Career they really aspired

What do I do?

During the initial meeting an initial interview, me the coach and my client sit down to discuss and understand the situation on hand. (Remember it’s never an issue or a problem or a crisis! It’s just a situation that needs attention.) The desired outcome is understood and a schedule is chalked out with mutual consent which is feasible for both parties.

At the same time, one-on-one or group coaching isn’t for everyone. It’s hard, soul-searching work with another person a complete stranger! This can make you uncomfortable sometimes! Throw you off your guard! At the same time elevate your senses and understanding!

the client’s goals for the future. We help people move forward and set personal and professional goals that will give them the life and career they really want. Most coaching clients are healthy, successful people who might be a bit stuck or simply want to make a big change in their lives and want the support of a coach to do so.

As a Coach I work one on one or in groups I help identify and attain my clients goals. Be it huge ones or small ones! Dreams are not meant to be left as dreams is what I believe in! What’s the point in dreaming and not working towards it becoming a reality?

Right?

Consulting? Yes! It can be related to consulting - Information and expertise sharing. As a Consulting coach, the coach helps the business with a specific situation to handle. Expecting the coach to possess expertise in that domain would be prudent. Coaches who deal in personal enhancement on the other hand may not have the business exposure. On the other hand, would be an expert in sorting out situations pertaining to real life, confidence, emotions and stability.

Pure consultants would propose a solution and leave you to implement it, whereas a coach stays with you. Handholds you through your transformation process.

Sometimes, you know you have the ability to do what is needed from you, but then, there is this one little bubble in your head, that keeps popping up to say, “Watch out! You might be wrong!”  That’s when you start to move into a never ending road of dilemma! You drive around! You drive fast! You find an intersection! Intuition says don’t turn keep driving! Should I?” Its when you find yourself in this junction, that you wish you had someone to guide you. Someone to tell you “Go on! You will be just fine! You might find a speed breaker, drive slow through it! If need be turn the wheels to go across, but don’t turn back!” And that is when a coach stays with you, integrating all the changes and fresh skills you have gained and guiding you through your goals ensuring you apply the changes and retain the results. This reason is a good enough one to approach a coach!

Let’s face the truth! Coaching is not the same as therapy or going to a psychiatrist If you have bottled up fizz in the bottle, or have too much steam that needs a vent, have recently experienced trauma or loss, please seek the professional help consult a doctor. Some consider coaching to be therapy! No! Coaching is not therapy. Coaches don’t work on past-based issues or traumas. Life coaches are not psychologists. They are not psychotherapists.

A coach will always refer you to a therapist if they feel you need an intervention. If you have unresolved issues from the past. It’s a very common occurrence for unresolved traumas or addictions rule our lives and start acting as hurdles!

I am now going to move one to the most common area of concern! DISCOUNTS!!! Sounds like a word that would make a lady jump up with joy! Not being sarcastic here! But not all DISCOUNTS make you jump with joy! Most discounting that happens on an internal level, prove as boulders, externally and emotionally! Come back for another interesting read on DISCOUNTING!
