What is the future of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

People frequently ask me, 'What is Neuro-Linguistic Programming?'

I just answer them back - "Big words, simple concept!"

Neuro-Linguistic Programming, or NLP, is a way of providing your brain with directions using a language it recognizes.

Once you understand the proper NLP techniques, you can consistently interact with your unconscious mind to achieve specific and desired outcomes.

Over the last 7-8 years, Neuro-Linguistic Programming has gained significant popularity in India and all over the globe. Increasing awareness of the benefits of being trained in NLP has led to a spike in demand for programs and workshops. The basis of this research says that India is the fastest-growing market for NLP certifications and growing practitioners.

This piece will cover significant highlights on the future of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and how it can benefit coaching?

How it All Started?

Dr. Richard Bandler and John Grinder co-founded Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) in the early '70s as a research project in California. The pair had a candid goal: To decode why certain people exceeded their goals, whereas others faltered utterly. What sets them apart? And how could the not-so-smart ones replicate the consequences, if at all?

Bandler and Grinder discovered that - what victorious people did and used the sequence of Neuro (Neurology), Linguistic (language) and added the term Programming (the function of our thoughts, events, sensations) to perform NLP and offer the expertise via NLP certifications as Practitioner, Master Practitioner, and NLP Coach. NLP demonstrates how achievements need not eternally be a result of one's education or ability alone. Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is regarding the habitual and unconscious patterns we display and being aware of them, transforming them to make things work in our favor.

Understanding Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP):

Furnishing yourself with Neuro-linguistic programming is one of the most reliable choices you'd make for your personal and professional development. NLP is a compelling psychological approach that works towards the transformation of a person.

Now, NLP is used in various fields such as hypnosis, healing, individual change work, sport, life coaching, business coaching, and sales practice. It's also considered a spiritual detour, with learners combining it to connect with the self within. For example, some are practicing it in hospitals to reduce the need to induce pain. Others use it to grow as a better parent, fight stage fear, build self-confidence and self-esteem, or cure sensitivities.

The application of NLP indicates that it can invoke any aspired state upon will. Thus, there are many conscious (and unconscious) processes that help attain peak performance.

Understanding if NLP is a sort of Counselling?

Its methodology employs a mixture of Neuro-linguistic programming techniques based on several concepts Bandler and Grinder chose to incorporate.

No, it's not Counselling.

NLP, by itself, is not Counselling. However, it is an excellent tool to combine with any therapeutic process to get practical and enduring results and improve treatment quality.

Easily put, Neuro-Linguistic Programming is an attitude! With this attitude, NLP sees methods of creating models (need-based). The outstanding primary model is the model of human behavior.

It provides a valuable perspective on the why and how of behavior, the various approaches which people use to maintain behaving the way they behave. In addition, it helps the practitioner understand the driving force behind the undesired behavior.
