1. Imagine and Write Your Life’s Vision

Irrespective of where you are in your life, you likely have dreams and goals you wish to achieve in your life. Everyone has a perception of what they want their future to look like.

The first step in the NLP practice for self-confidence is to imagine and write down the story of your life – from the day you were born to how it is today.

This list should include the highs and lows, the good and bad, and the memorable experiences that have taken permanent residence in your mind. Lay down everything that plagues your mind, from your past, present, and the visions you have for your future.

As you progress by putting down your imagination and life story on a piece of paper, you will realize how things have unfolded in your life. You will realize the true potential you hold and haven’t yet tapped into.

2. Feel What you Wrote

As you write down your life story and you notice this loving and successful person laid out on the piece of paper, you will begin to identify the good qualities in you that you once pushed to the side or avoided acknowledging.

When you read through each line and reflect on the small wins that the past you have achieved, you feel a jolt of confidence and pride running through you.

This is the emotion you need to hold on to and make the most out of. You might not realize this now but witnessing this sudden burst of confidence also keeps you inspired to grasp onto opportunities that you have been letting go of until now.

3. Shift your Perspective

As you look back on your past self and the person whose story you have written out in front of you, it's time to take a step back and observe for some time.

Ask yourself what your past self thinks about the current you or what would they think about the future you? Would they see the amazing qualities that you foster or look down on you because you decided to let go of the opportunities because of your lacking self-confidence?

This isn’t a moment of judgment. It's where you relax and indulge in a mindful experience to get the answers to the questions that are swirling in your mind. As you mindfully experience these answers, you will feel an inflow of positive energy coursing through your body.

This is a part of the “Content Reframe” NLP technique. If your self-confidence is affected because of the bad experiences you harbor in your life, this technique can completely change the course of the wheel.

The technique allows you to retrain your mind into viewing bad situations in a different light, pulling you away from the hopeless situations that plague your mind and thought process. If your lacking self-confidence is a direct consequence of trauma, this technique can shift your perspective into a positive light.

4. Shift in Beliefs

Most people struggling with self-confidence issues have the root of their trouble in their childhood. It's what the people around them, the society around them have told them that has ingrained its spot in their minds, muttering a constant mantra of, “You are not good enough.”

Our personal beliefs become a part of the worldview. I am not saying every belief is negative but most of them influence your degree of confidence. Such beliefs create bad behavior patterns that alter relationships with ourselves and with the people around us.

NLP directly reprograms these beliefs in a positive light, creating a shift in what a person thinks about themselves and the work they do. It helps you revise the way you perceive the world around you and enable you to act in a more positive way.

5. Relieve Stress and Anxiety

Unstable mental well-being is a key contributor to poor self-confidence. If you are constantly stressed or anxious, it takes away your opportunities.

Lack of self-confidence often stems from feelings of hopelessness, which is something NLP works to eliminate. With NLP, one can analyze what they are thinking on a conscious and unconscious level to make better decisions later.

NLP also explores the behavioral patterns that contribute to stress and anxiety, further helping relieve them.
